Christ Church is an active supporter of Cornerstone Prep. Christ Church provides volunteers, leadership, and professional support to the work that occurs every day on the Cornerstone Prep campus. Their work in the Binghampton community through Cornerstone Prep and other organizations has made a dramatic effect on the lives of the residents of this community.

Alice Davis and Walter Casey do a fantastic job leading the community center located adjacent to our school. As many as 75 Prepsters join Ms. Davis and Mr. Casey after school, walking to the center to enjoy recreational time, work on homework and develop relationships. Prepsters at the community center also painted school bookshelves this summer.

Located in the Binghampton community, Refugee Empowerment Program (REP) addresses the unique needs and concerns of the refugee population of Memphis, TN through innovative empowerment programs and creative community outreach. Each afternoon Prepsters participate in afterschool tutoring and homework sessions with volunteers and professionals at the REP facility.

The Junior League of Memphis is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Each week volunteers come to read to pre-Kindergarten students at Cornerstone Prep, helping these youngest Prepsters begin the journey of life-long learning.

The Mission of the BDC is to improve the quality of life in the Binghampton community, working in multiple areas in the community, including job training, economic development, housing, urban farming, and parent training. The BDC provides significant support to the work of Cornerstone Prep, organizing volunteer tutors, leading after-school program in art, music, chess and leadership development. The BDC also invests in the lives of the families of Cornerstone Prep, building relationships with parents and seeking to meet their live needs.

Service Over Self (SOS) has served the community in which our school is located for more than 20 years through urban home repair camps. The SOS Academy is a one-year internship that trains and equips 19-26 year-olds to do justice, love mercy, and to serve others in an urban context. This program developed as SOS had more and more college summer staff graduating college with a desire to move to Memphis to love and serve Binghampton. The SOS Academy now hosts anywhere from 5-10 interns each year who live in a community in Binghampton, are led by our full-time staff and partners and gain practical experience working with one of their many partner organizations.
For the past three years, SOS has placed interns to work at Cornerstone Prep. These interns support Cornerstone Prep in the following ways:
Cornerstone Prep is currently looking to hire an intern for the 2016-2017 year to participate in the SOS Academy and be placed at our school.

Communities In Schools of Tennessee (CISTN) is a part of the national Communities In Schools (CIS) network, which is the leading dropout prevention program in the country, and the only such organization that is proven to decrease the dropout rate and increase on-time graduation rates.
For nearly 40 years, CIS has been helping students achieve in school, graduate and go on to bright futures. The CIS mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
They currently serve 11,000 students in 21 schools across the state of Tennessee. CIS positions site coordinators inside schools to assess students’ needs and provide resources to help them succeed in the classroom and in life, partnering with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers.
