Educator Spotlight | Tavis Rutherford (Coach T)

“The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I can make a difference.”

Tavis Rutherford -  better known as Coach T - finds joy in helping students reach their academic goals and MAP test goals. Serving as the Athletic Director at Lester Prep, Coach T enjoys celebrating his student successes. The native Memphian graduated from Frayser High School and later attended Southeast Missouri State on an athletic scholarship. He earned his Masters in Education from Union University.

“Coaching and working with young people is my calling. I enjoy what I do," says Coach T.

This year Coach T hopes to improve and expand more on his teaching strategies so that he is a more effective teacher. Outside of work he enjoys sports and spending time with his family.

“I love Memphis! I love the people, weather, and food," says Coach T.
