Good afternoon parents,
I wanted to give you an update on our status for school opening August 31. Here are two summary points:
-
We will start school online only on August 31
-
If you are interested in early learning, please be sure your application is complete by Monday August 3
As you know, we have been offering parents the choice of online or on campus learning since April. We believe now, as we always have, that children learn best in the presence of a highly qualified, caring teacher who can meet the individualized need of each child. However, we are living in an unprecedented time and therefore we developed a strong online learning plan as a viable option for our families and scholars.
As of July 28, approximately 85% of parents who have responded indicated they want online learning for their child. Based on this overwhelming response from our parents, we have made the decision to make all learning online beginning August 31. We hope to offer on campus learning later this fall and therefore we will continue to poll parents in addition to watching guidance from health experts and local and state government officials.
When we reconsider offering on campus for learning later this fall, all parents will once again have the option to continue learning online or switch to on campus learning. We will gauge the response of parents and if enough parents desire to send their child to school, we would provide at least two weeks’ notice before opening the campus once again.
As you know, CEG’s online learning includes a school-provided device if needed. Chromebooks and hot spots will be provided to students and families who do not have a working laptop, Chromebook, or full-sized tablet like an iPad that the student can use daily during school hours or who do not have active wifi in the home. We are glad to offer this support to parents.
Registration is now open. Please login to capstone.schoolmint.net to register. Please register as soon as possible or call your school office (901) 416-3640 for the Lester Campus and (901) 416-3936 for the Denver Campus to get more information on how to enroll.
CEG is also offering early, optional personalized on-line learning for three weeks beginning August 10 and ending August 28. Chromebooks and hot spots will be provided to families looking for a head start on their child’s education. These students will receive Chromebooks and hot spots beginning August 3 and will receive 2-4 hours of individual learning each day provided by certified teachers. You must complete your application by Monday August 3 to be guaranteed a spot on this exciting program.
Thanks, as always, for entrusting your child with us.
Sincerely,
Drew Sippel
