Mary Ann Rountree | Educator Spotlight
April 12, 2019
Mary Ann Rountree, third grade teacher at Cornerstone Prep Lester Campus, loves celebrating individual success with students.
Mary Ann describes a recent case: “One student was struggling to pass her weekly SWYKs (a weekly assessment), and I kept pushing her to focus more in class, participate in reviews, and answer more questions,” begins Mary Ann. “We talked to her mom about these things together, and the very next week as she was doing these things, she passed her first SWYK. And then the next one, and the next one, etc. I kept texting her mom a photo each time she passed. She’s continued to get better and better with engagement in class and is now a top performer.”

Born in Statesboro, GA, Mary Ann enjoys listening to the band Needtobreathe, biking on the Greenline and a warm donut from Gibson’s. Mary Ann also loves to travel. In the last two summers, she traveled to Denmark, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Scotland, England, Spain, France, and Greece.
