Girls Running Club Members Receive New Shoes!

"I can't NOT run in these shoes!" one of the running club members, a student at CPL, said upon receiving her new shoes.

Each week, Cornerstone Prep Lester teacher, Kristen Lewis, and a handful of other volunteers lead the Girls Running Club, meeting twice per week in the afternoons after school. The girls and volunteers spend time working on homework, sharing a snack and running, of course! Easy access to the Greenline from Tillman means the club tries to run this trail once per week and spend the other days playing running games.

The club leaders reached out to Fleet Feet, a store in Memphis that sells running gear, a few months ago to see if they would be a collection point for used running gear for club members; instead, the running store received an anonymous donation for $1000!

The Fleet Feet crew visited the school in September to size the girls for the new shoes and made their delivery of brand news shoes on October 27. The girls received additonal running gear, including socks, as well!

Our leaders and running club members are extremely thankful for this gift to help them keep running! Thank you to Fleet Feet and the generous donor who made this possible!
