Educator Spotlight | Taylor McMurry

Taylor McMurry was born and raised a couple hours down the road in Selmer, Tennessee. Taylor received her master’s in occupational therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Like many in education, Taylor wants to make a difference in student’s lives. As an occupational therapist, Taylor identifies challenges that students are facing that affect their functional performance in school. Once she identifies the challenges, she helps the student adapt and accommodate their daily routine which improves their learning and self-esteem. Taylor finds great joy in her work, especially when students overcome challenges. One of Taylor’s previous students struggled to write their name independently, which they worked and worked on until one day it just clicked!

“This brought me so much joy watching her confidence and motivation for learning increase!” Taylor said.

Outside of CPD, Taylor is a country girl at heart. She loves to hunt, ride four-wheelers, watch the sunset, and listen to country music. Around town, Taylor can be found doing yoga at Hot Yoga Plus or playing with her dog at Shelby Farms or Mud Island! Taylor also loves the educational opportunities around Memphis. On top of being an OT at CPD, she also supervises OT students through the University of Tennessee and provides services at the Rachel Kay Stevens Therapy Center. If Taylor didn’t work in OT though, she’d love to open her own clothing boutique!
