CEG Welcomes Latasha Harris!

We're excited to announce that Latasha Harris has joined Capstone Education Group as the new principal for Lester Prep.

Latasha was born and raised in Memphis, graduating from Oakhaven High School in 1998 as the Salutatorian. She went on to earn a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Tennessee State University in 2003 and a M.Ed. Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2007.

Latasha intentionally chose to work in education.  "I have always wanted to go into a profession that allowed me to enhance the lives of others," says Latasha.  "I wanted to do something where I would have the most immediate impact on underserved youth in the city of Memphis."

Latasha brings 14 years of education experience to Lester Prep, consisting of 7 years of teaching experience and 7 years of school leadership, including 4 years as a principal at Riverview School.

Latasha recalls a joyous moment that she celebrated with a student. "During my 6th year of teaching, I encountered a child labeled as illiterate and believed to have emotional issues that prohibited him from being successful in school," Latasha shares. "After meeting the young man, I soon learned that he was extremely intelligent and was well ahead of his peers.  I challenged him... the young man and I developed a very strong bond and he scored proficient in all but one subject area that year on his state testing.  The two of us celebrated his success, despite the things that he was constantly hearing from the people closest to him."

Outside of school, Latasha enjoys dining out, rooftop parties and listening to live music all over the city. One day she hopes to learn carpentry, utilizing that new skill to build things such as furniture, shelving, decks, and flooring.

Please join us in welcoming Latasha to the CEG team!
